L’Oréal x Infalliable
L’Oréal INFALLIBLE
african sub-saharan campaign

a collaboration like no other
In the heart of a bustling set, amid the swirl of creativity and precision, I found myself working on one of the most exciting projects of my career: the L’Oréal Paris African Sub-Saharan campaign. This campaign, featuring the extraordinary Temi Ortea from Nigeria, was nothing short of a dream.

Temi Ortea, a powerhouse influencer and a beacon of African talent, has carved a remarkable niche for herself on the global stage. It was an absolute pleasure to collaborate with her. Temi’s grace, flawless skin, and impeccable style made every moment on set a delight. Her professionalism and poise were awe-inspiring, a true testament to her status as a fashion icon and beauty queen.
A Stellar Team Makes the Magic Happen
I hadn’t encountered such a consummate professional in a long time. Temi’s agent, Fadé, originally from the UK but of Nigerian descent, played a pivotal role in bringing this campaign to life. Her dedication and vision were instrumental in highlighting Temi’s unique charm and talent. Alongside them was Sahim from Paris, now residing in Johannesburg, who is steering the African scene for L’Oréal Paris with unparalleled passion and innovation.
Being part of this campaign is a privilege. Watching Africa’s vibrant talent shine on a global stage is an incredible experience. Reflecting on my journey from a photographic assistant in the film industry 19 years ago to directing this monumental campaign, I am filled with gratitude and excitement.
Crafting Perfection: The Technical Marvel
Working with L’Oréal Paris is an honor that I cherish deeply. Earl Redcliffe from Mackenzie Rudolph Films, who approached me with this campaign, provided the creative freedom to pitch and shape this project into something extraordinary. Earl, along with Kabelo Seane and Valencia Fisher, orchestrated a stellar production. Their expertise and dedication were the backbone of this campaign’s success.
Our makeup artist, Lloyd, brought an exceptional touch of beauty, ensuring every look was flawless. Collaborating with Tania Durand, the star fashion stylist from Glamour magazine, was another highlight. Her talent transformed the campaign, making it a visual treat. Together, we even conceptualized a tutorial for Glamour magazine and its cover, adding another layer of creativity and inspiration to our work.
The Art of the Shot: Technology Meets Creativity
The campaign’s visual finesse was further elevated by the brilliant work of our Director of Photography, Nicol Dippenaar. Nicol’s eye for detail and ability to capture the essence of each frame with absolute finesse were invaluable. His expertise brought a cinematic quality to the campaign that resonated with the energy and vibrancy of African beauty.
The technical aspects of the shoot were equally thrilling. We captured the essence of the campaign with the Alexa Mini camera and Cooke S4 lenses, achieving the perfect blend of technical excellence and artistic vision. Being able to shoot the stills and direct the campaign was an incredible opportunity. The seamless post-production work by my friend and re-toucher, Pablo Ponting, and editor, Daniel Tucker from we are_Creative, added the final polish to the campaign.
The Future is Here: Unveiling the Campaign
I am immensely proud of the final result and cannot wait for you to see it. The L’Oréal Paris African Sub-Saharan campaign will soon be live across Africa, adorning retail stores and billboards. It’s going to be a sight to behold, a celebration of African talent and beauty. Stay tuned and keep an eye out for this captivating campaign, a true testament to the power of collaboration, creativity, and the indomitable spirit of African talent.
