These brilliant young artists use poetry, visuals, intention and the art of
music in grasping our souls through this amazing hypnotic track.
The music sets the tone for future music innovation where
this single explores African traditional culture with technoculture and
science fiction through showcasing African Diaspora along with history, science and aesthetics.
Mwanjé and Sampa the Great successfully created a single that transports us
through time and space. It’s conveyed through strong imagery on the contrast
between youth and wisdom. The intention behind the single is to
express personal freedom.
A big thanks to the inventive directors Michael Rodrigues & Tarryn Hatchett in collaboration with creative director Mwanjé who wrote and directed this brilliantly curated music video that evokes the audience’s
emotions through intuitive writing and creating trance effects through the incomparable
visuals that compliment the beat and also directing
and executing stunner performances.
BEHIND-THE-SCENES
It must be mentioned that such wonderful art was created through very hard times
that hit the entire World during COVID-19, where this music video
was produced and edited remotely.
The behind-the-scenes was full of technicalities and logistics that was
executed remarkably and to see that being realised when
everything was challenging during such a difficult time.
Mwanjé and Sampa the Great are true inspirations for resembling
a culture of music that goes beyond the borders and limits of today’s music.
They create a space where the viewer transforms and transitions with them.
It was a blast collaborating with these amazing young artists.
We cannot wait for all the amazing work that they will do in the future,
since they are truly an inspiration for futuristic and innovative music
and it’s certain that they will set the bar for so many artists
from Africa by breaking the status quo.
